Instructions
1. Choose "Operation: Tectonic Fury" from the left menu. * Choose Mission 1: The Building Blocks * Read articles "The World Beneath Our Feet" and "What is a Mineral?" * Open a document and answer the questions at the bottom of the "What is a Mineral?" page entitled "Check for Understanding". Save the document and share with your teacher when completed.
2. Choose "Operation: Tectonic Fury" from the left menu. * Choose Mission 1: The Building Blocks * Read articles "Physical Properties of Minerals" and "Mineral Resources". Play the game at the bottom of the page.
3. Choose "Operation: Tectonic Fury" from the left menu. * Choose Mission 1: The Building Blocks * Read articles "What is a Rock?", "Igneous Rocks", "Sedimentary Rocks", "Metamorphic Rocks", and "Examples of Rocks and Their Uses".
4. Your teacher will give you several types of rocks. You will examine them, try to determine which sort of rock (igneous, sedimentary, or metamorphic) it is, and try to name the particular rock.
Open the "Inference Chart" from your Weebly template page. Give it a name such as "Rocks" and the names of you and your partner.
In the box on the left you will state the number of the rock and what kind of rock you think it is.
In the box on the right you will give the evidence that led you to your inferences about the rock.
Do this with each of the five rocks you are given. When you are done remember to share with your partner and with your teacher.
